My mother doesn't know how to use chopsticks. When we go to Chinese or Japanese Restaurants she would immediately order a waiter to give spoons and forks to EVERYONE even though she's the only who would use them.

As Korean, I wanna say almost every one of us won’t judge or kick your ass off the border because you need fork out of using chopsticks. Most restaurants would have fork as well, for the kids, and I personally just find the happiness from that you are, as foreigner, enjoying our dishes. And wooden chopsticks from Japan and metal chopsticks from Korea feels quite different and switching to one another maybe difficult, even if you are good at chopsticks, so yeah, just ask for fork if you want. Yes but I would definitely call the cops if you are having korean stew dishes but haven’t ordered a bowl of rice.
