One of my favorite all-time songs, that I always have fun playing! Always inspiring new ways to approach it every time I play it. Do you guys love this song too? This is among my favorite songs of all time! When I was about 12 I would listen to a jazz program on Sunday Mornings in Fort Lauderdale Florida...I always loved it! I didn't know much about the music at the time, but I was listening to Chick Corea, Weather Report etc...all of a sudden "Eighteen" from the Pat Metheny Group comes on...It was absolutely a moment that changed my life! Also, my guitar teacher made me a cassette tape of a bunch of Pat's music...The music of The Pat Metheny Group has been the soundtrack to much of my life ever since...This is the place I go when I'm happy, and especially when I'm feeling sad or lost...I just bought myself a 1977 Ibanez ES 175 (Blonde) and I'm working on learning jazz! Gabriel...that was a brilliant performance! Thank you...Now I'm a Gabriel Santiago fan as well!

Really great. You worked in some excellent substitutions and emphasized rocking some bass lines! Going to that G min instead of Gmaj7 at the end there- was a nice surprise... but then- it made me wonder if that was the original change that Pat or Lyle had been fooling with - which gave birth to this song. (Ask Pat- I hope he'll see your rendition).

Ha ha you make me laugh with pleasure when I listen to you playing Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays. It is strange how you make me realize, when you play, how incredible their compositions are. You get to the essence and purity of it. Thank you Gabriel !! One comment about James, I was as usual waiting for the last chord, performed with a triangle or something, on the original Offramp album. It is absolutely brilliant, a sort of question mark at the end of the song. But you added a last chord after that ! That made me burst out laughing !
