Sulcus Sign (for Glenohumeral Instability)

The sulcus sign is used to evaluate for glenohumeral instability. The patient is examined with their arm resting at their side in a neutral position. The examiner applies inferior traction on the shoulder. A positive test is increased space between the lateral edge of the acromion and the head of the humerus.
