The third feature-length anime film from Studio Colorido, known for “Penguin Highway,” which was nominated for Best Animation at the 42nd Japan Academy Film Prize, and “A Whisker Away.”

Sixth-graders Kosuke and Natsume grew up in the same apartment building as childhood friends. During summer break, while playing in the apartment building that is set to be demolished, they find themselves caught in a strange phenomenon. All they can see around them is a vast sea. Will Kosuke and the others make it back to their world? A journey of farewells in summer has just begun.

I watched it and it’s sad but very meaningful! What I’ve realised from the movie (I may not be right) but that the movie is all about letting go the past and going into the future because sometimes it’s better to let go than stay.

It was a good film; those stating on these comments that it's 'the greatest anime movie they've ever seen' I don't think have watched very much anime in their lives.

Definitely worth a watch; it was a good experience, and the visuals were very well done.
A couple teary eyed scenes; but all in all, not overly emotional as some have stated (Grave of the Fireflies will be the most depressing movie I've ever watched I think for quite sometime).

Check it out though; movies like this need the viewership to greenlight more feature films for production. Netflix is definitely getting a lot better with their original Anime content, and I believe a true masterpiece is definitely around the corner for them.

Aku anak kampung di sebuah kampung kecil di Malaysia, zaman kanak2 tersangat indah. Masa tu cuma tahu bangun tidur nak pergi main dengan kawan di sungai, di hutan, beli aiskrim di kedai runcit seberang jalan, malam pula mengaji rumah tok penghulu. Tapi itu zaman 20 tahun lepas. Kawan2 yang dulu ada yang semakin dilupakan ada yang masih berkawan. Kita tak mampu nak berhentikan masa tapi kita boleh mengimbas kembali waktu2 suka dulu. Good movie, buat aku menangis teringatkan betapa aku juga pernah ditempat natsume, tak mampu untuk meninggalkan memori dulu tapi akhirnya terpaksa melangkah pergi untuk terus maju ke depan
