@selenagomez just shared something very personal about her fertility—she cannot carry her own children. But that doesn’t mean motherhood is out of the question for her. Since it became clear that Gomez and her boyfriend Benny Blanco are very serious about their relationship, people have started to wonder if children are in the couple’s future. (Especially since Blanco has spoken openly about wanting to have kids with the singer/actor.) Well, in a new interview with Vanity Fair, Gomez revealed that while she cannot become pregnant herself, she’s already thinking about other ways to have kids, including adoption. God bless. Just cause you don't carry a child doesn't mean you can't love a child. They will love you and call you mom. That's all that matters. Love breaks all these boundaries.

I was diagnosed with Lupus at 19. Due to severe kidney impairment my husband and I chose to adopt. All 3 of my children are adopted. Most of the time I forget they are adopted. I am now 67 with 13 grand children. Love life to the fullest!

I can't have children either... I tried different ways and got so stressed I gave up. At 44, I know in my heart it wasn't meant to be for me. I looked into adoption, but I couldn't afford it, so I dwelled on it for a while and lost a lot of weight (stress). Instead, I got a puppy, and she feeds my heart! It's definitely not the same as a child, but something gets my love and attention ❤

I have Lupus too! I developed it after I had my second son, and I turned 30. Carrying my 3rd son at 35 with Lupus nearly killed me! I had major issues with my heart and kidneys. I am grateful he and I made it! He and I were in the hospital for 12 days after he was born. Adoption and surrogacy are both amazing options! I am friends with people who have adopted, and those precious children are just as much theirs, as my boys are mine❤❤❤

Surrogate or adopted, her baby will never be out of her sight unless she's working and then the baby won't be far away. Selena will be a beautiful loving mom.

As a fellow autoimmune disease survivor, I’m so happy that surrogacy is a possibility, I love her so much, so strong 😭 what a role model

This is the same for many younger transplant patients. I had a kidney transplant at 20 (I’m 23 now) and it would be way too risky for me to be pregnant or go through birth. It could kill my donor kidney, I would be considered high risk the entire pregnancy, I would have to switch off certain immunosuppressants 6 months before trying to conceive, if I get pregnant before doing that, the baby has a 100% chance of having birth defects and malformations, and if I developed preeclampsia, my blood pressure is already high so I might not get diagnosed in time. So many complications just from that, I can’t imagine having Lupus on top of it. I’ve never wanted to be pregnant so I never had to grieve that but my heart goes out to the people that do. I’ve always wanted to adopt and will be so excited to do that in the future.

God bless you! You are going to be an awesome mom. Moms aren't the ones who carry, but the ones who care and love for the child for the rest of their lives. Can't wait to see what comes next for you.

She will be a great mom . Can you imagine how many people would be willing to be her surrogate. How much care they would take to bless her with a child. . I do think she should adopt though. She has so much to give . So much kindness to pass on. 💕 I wish her all the best. She is in my prayers .

Thank you for talking about this. Not enough of us do. I also suffer with an array of auto immune diseases and can’t have children. It’s nice to hear you’re not alone.
