People thrive differently. While the sister got a lot of support from the parents she also felt the pressure of their expectations. Op was by herself for better and worse. No support, but also no fear of disappointing anyone but herself.

Its refreshing for once to see a story where the black sheep actually thrives under being left alone and becomes successful, and has an ACTUAL backbone when it comes to family. I am glad the sister had enough common sense and humility to apologize too, that was a nice touch!

Its always the "everyone treats me like a dog but I secretly am the ceo of a tech company and later when they find out, everybody clapped" stories.

This is what I hate, parents not caring then suddenly acting like they do as soon as they hear about the money

I notice a lot of posts talk about the “golden child”. It’s difficult to be in that position. I sometimes wonder why people always focus on the up side of being the favorite but the negatives are numerous.

Now that's the sort of outcome and believe I'd like to hear about people who are treated poorly by their families

I might sound spoiled but I’m the favorite one (the younger girl with only one older brother). It’s not great, they (including my brother) pleased me with everything I prefer to do. I can just drop hobbies class that already paid for, can apply for any fun activities, instrument/art/language classes. I often just drop those and not follow any (while my brother still practice and play piano, guitar, drum, dj, photography, etc.). I could skip school by asking if it’s ok and most of the time I just stay home all day playing. I did great in school but never surpassed my brother, my social skill not as good as him, my tuition cost more than him 10x, my future career def not better than him (he’s in IT field). So the favored game would not go the long way 😅

😂😂😂😂
Youre that girl from the magazine, that people totally still read! The super hot, rich one! I can't believe your family never knew about this. Twist of the century..!

For me, im the older middle child in a family of 4 kids. Im the older because i have a twin 1 minutes younger than me. So for me, i have a lot of taskes. My twin has less. And the oldest has a job. The youngest is still too young to work ( he's almost 1 year old, to be presise, almost 11 months). But, im the black sheep because im an introvert with ADHD and (maybe) autisme. I don't like interacting with people, even my family members. But even doe im the black sheep, im still appreciated for my kindess and inteligence.

What expectations did she have as the favorite she did little to nothing she would have gotten an Oscar nomination from her parents simply for farting sounds like she's just trying to butter up her sibling

I feel like this story is off 🤔 it don't sound like "a golden child/black sheep" type story, the way she describes it it's more like 1 kid was spoiled and could do no wrong, well the other was never acknowledged...

No hon, your parents actually did know that you would thrive. They saw your A’s, but they also didn’t want her to be discouraged by her C’s. Sometimes you gotta lift the one up that doesn’t do as well so that they don’t feel as bad there must’ve been something extra going on with your little sister that she needed a little extra. I’m sorry that they didn’t even show you the affection that you deserved or acknowledge that they knew that you were doing great before that point that’s the part that sucks.
