Despite the reported labor shortage and millions of job openings, many are still struggling to find employment.

Job seekers face numerous obstacles, from being overqualified or underqualified for positions, to navigating lengthy interview processes and unethical hiring tactics. Persistence, adaptability, and vigilance against scams are crucial for success in this challenging landscape. Corporate greed also plays a significant role in the job market, with some employers unwilling to pay decent wages or invest in training. Worker solidarity and collective activism may help shift the balance in favor of applicants and employees.

Being told the lie of the American dream through your entire youth, just to walk out of school into a job market and economy like this, is depressing.

I've applied to some 300 places in the past year alone. At this point I'm boarding homelessness. I cannot for the life of me get a call back and or find a decent paying job. It's crippling. I've done almost everything my power, but I guess I'm just unlucky. All I want is a living wage....

"Corporate should adjust salaries to become more attractive" never gonna happen. If a company can squeeze you to death or get you by starvation, they will.

What they fail to tell you is there are job openings but these are shit jobs. I used to work in a corporate office and then after the pandemic I was on unemployment for a year and then it’s been 2 years and I’ve had a few jobs here and there but they’ve been shit jobs with HORRIBLE experiences.

Simple fact of the matter is the labour market is world wide now. Almost every gov't allows employers to bring in foreign workers. You're competing with the world. On top of all those other issues. Essentually boomers have pulled up the ladder behind them.

I'm currently 38. Getting a basic entry level labor job has always been a seriously hardcore pain in the ass for me. Of course I hate dealing with lots of people, so when I was starting out I never tried getting jobs like retail, fast food etc. That type of work...yeah with my personality there's no possible way I'm gonna fit in there. I always went after generic labor jobs.

I wound up working in the logging industry after a friend helped get me on with his brother's company. Didn't work out after a couple of years, struggled for almost 4 years looking for jobs, living in an isolated rural area didn't help. Finally got going again and been working steady since 2010. Tried getting different jobs earlier this year (I have insanely long commutes I'm trying to get away from) and finding a basic labor job was the same old B.S. as always. I don't understand this crap.

After working with a Fortune 500 company for three years as a "contingent" employee receiving no benefits, I finally quit. 40+ hrs per week, I served multiple clients and carried out a wide range of duties. Yet it was decided I wasn't worth giving benefits to. Only someone truly desperate would settle for that kind of treatment when no advancement opportunities are provided after three years of hard work. It's incredible how underappreciated American workers are today.

That reluctance to train has been one of my biggest issue as a job seeker. My past 3-4 jobs were horrible experiences bc managers just throw you out there without teaching you anything. Turnover rate be super high bc no one feels confident or knowledgeable in their role

Honestly, its a joke at this point.

Even you do get an interview, its like they put you through the ring of fire with dumb questions like "what do you do in your free time?"

Like how tf that has to do with anything about my ability to stock shelves?

We have reached our climax. The end is here.

After covid i noticed all "entry level" jobs now require prior experience which makes no sense.

It's not worth looking for a job anymore, the broken process makes people spend months unpaid just to get ghosted and soulcrushed. We all should stop applying and learn survival skills and minimalism to have as little dependency on this recent economy as possible.

When I read entry-level job descriptions I sometimes think hr people who wrote them were on psychedelia drugs. Most recent - 7 years of extensive experience for "entry level" position! Are they inadequate, or what? First, hire adequate HR people.

I couldn't get a interview slot at a Ace Warehouse job fair because I wouldn't need to be sponsored for a Visa.... That was the question that kept me from being able to just go to the Job Fair interview.... So an American Citizen gets denied, but a immigrant is welcome wth in Dallas, Texas...😮.

Great Stuff! So glad I did those years away from my family serving "my" country in the Military 🫏

Spends all of 2021-2023 crying about nobody wanting to work anymore yet proceeds not to hire anyone. Gotta love the US.

I’ve done all I could to look for a job. I’m done at this point. Gonna enjoy what little time I have with my bed. Might make friends with the homeless people just in case.

I've had over 500 rejections, I'm assuming they're rejections as I never heard back, its definitely having a mental toll. I constantly edited my resume tried improving my cover letters with having friends read over to ensure they make sense are good to go.

Because we don’t need to work anymore and it’s about time to start UBI but the system never updates.
