The 1974 midterm election was pretty damn important I’m surprised you never mentioned that. The Republicans were all but dead in that election cycle due to Watergate. Also the 1978 midterms are an overlooked election cycle because of how they bounced back due to Carter’s unpopularity that was also when Newt Gingrich first got elected to the House. 1982 should have been a HUGE midterm election for Democrats cuz of the 81-82 recession but aside from a couple wins here and there for them not a whole lot changed. 1986 was a different story however cuz they picked up the Senate due to the Iran Contra scandal of Reagan. Those are my three noteworthy midterms.

I think the 2018 mid-terms may well top some of those you mentioned, it will be a turning point. Regardless of ones political views, I think many will agree.

In the 19th century, I'll say the 1866, 1874 and 1894 mid terms. During the 20 century it was the 1946, 1974 and 1994. Our current 21st century so far 2006, 2010 and 2018.
