Necessary items for working with veneer & the Shaper Origin:
Small inlay cutters:
I like downcut router bits for cutting veneer. The downcut action not only creates clean cuts on top...but it also holds the veneer down to the substrate.

Thanks Ramon. I'm considering the Shaper, so I found your video useful to understand the potential.

I use a Festool track saw to cut my veneer for my straight joinery.
I love your video.
Thanks

The nuance here between tool cabilith, woodcraft, and results is really good..
Despite your tool you were gluing, stabilizing, recognizing issues ahead of time.

I would drill 3 reference holes, and corners in addition to the middle reference line.

first off I think that you did a beautiful job and I learned a few new tricks as well but... The National Monument called Shiprock is in western New Mexico but what new Mexico doesn't have are Saguaro cactus which are also shown in the piece. but like I said awesome work.

This is the one I have been waiting for! Its a shame my mother moved away from Albuquerque last year. I would have loved to have taken a class with you up north!

Do you have any videos showing how you create these designs? I don't seem to know where to start. I imagine you can take a good photo as inspiration and create some outlines in vector space on top of the photo.

If the black cactus in considered the positive and you cut it on the outside with a negative -0.002 offset, what were the shaper settings for the pocket on the blue background? I missed that somewhere in your video.

Love your work, but wondering whether a $200 Cricut wouldn't make some of these cuts easier. ;-)

Did you freehand the images into adobe or a similar program?

I was trained in old school graphic design. We used 3M Spray Mount to arrange montages, layout, etc. My concern is you are spraying the working surface, creating multiple layers of tacky surfaces. Instead, you need to spray the back of the piece in a separate spray booth (with air extraction) and then transfer to the Shaper work area for cutting. The Shaper area will be kept a lot cleaner and easier to clean with rubbing alcohol or other solvent. Warning: prolonged use of spray mount in a confined area is dangerous. Please don’t do it.
