About 20 years ago, one of the long-time employees on our floor died in his cube from a (likely stress induced) heart attack. Nobody found his body until early the next morning and they removed his body before the employees started coming in. Some people in our floor's cube farm didn't know for a week he had died. Many of people on the floor below us didn't even know he existed. Within two weeks nobody talked about it, within two months it was an office legend and he had been replaced with a new employee, and after six months it was like he had never been there, like he had never existed. That event profoundly and permanently changed my thinking about corporate work.

I had a coworker not show up to an important Monday meeting. The boss asked the police to make a wellness check and he had died over the weekend. He lived alone but we cared

This goes to show never work yourself to your grave. Never stay loyal to these companies and always think you first. My condolences to her.

The corporate canned response is even more insulting. Nobody deeply cares or
is deeply saddened. Deeply indifferent is the right term.

I worked for a company where a guy quit and didn’t tell anyone. He just stopped showing up. Boss noticed three weeks later.

This is how my last job was. They wanted us back in the office, but no one actually needed to talk to each other to do our jobs.

"We need you to come back into the office."
the office: literally didn't notice a woman was dead for 4 days.

Lots of companies are always "deeply saddened" such a lawyer response.

I saw this on the news and this hurt my heart. 💔 💔

This poor woman’s life event also made me realize my worth and that my mental and physical health should come first, I quit my job today.

I was recently told my work was unimpressive and that I was not needed in my role, despite working 12 hours days… after seeing this on the news and listening to this channel… I quit.

This is an example on why people in general don't care about their jobs anymore and silent quitting became a thing. People know they are not valued at their jobs and treated poorly as being replaceable.

The irony is you’re working in a system that barely recognizes you exist.

I’ve been in the Corp world for 30 long years. It’s so incredibly toxic over the last 5 years. No one can survive it. Get in, make money, get the F out. Don’t ever assume you have friends there. Conversations should ONLY be about work. Never ever talk about your life. Limit any time with Management. Do not take on extra work. Do not stay late. Do not participate in any kind of team building activities after working hours, that includes having a drink. Never. Use them for a paycheck and that is all.

My co worker used to say his retirement plan was to die at work so the company would have to pay for his funeral expenses. This lady made it happen.

Not only did nobody at work notice she was missing, but clearly there were no family or friends to ask after her either. This is so sad.

I'd never sell my soul to an employer. They don't care about me, I don't care about them. If I died tomorrow, my position would be advertised the following day.

She never collected one dime of her Social Security.

Everybody's invisible in the workplace. Work ONLY so you can retire early.

We have Wells Fargo as a client. Their culture is horrible.

The only way an employer can "value" me is to add more money to my paycheck.
