SYNOPSIS:
SING STREET takes us back to 1980s Dublin where an economic recession forces Conor out of his comfortable private school and into survival mode at the inner-city public school where the kids are rough and the teachers are rougher. He finds a glimmer of hope in the mysterious and über-cool Raphina, and with the aim of winning her heart he invites her to star in his band’s music videos. She agrees, and now Conor must deliver what he’s promised – calling himself “Cosmo” and immersing himself in the vibrant rock music trends of the ‘80s, he forms a band with a few lads, and the group pours their hearts into writing lyrics and shooting videos. Combining Carney’s trademark warmth and humor with a punk rock edge, and featuring a memorable soundtrack with hits from The Cure, Duran Duran, The Police, and Genesis, SING STREET is an electrifying coming-of-age film that will resonate with music fans across the board.

What I like about the movie, it's not the typical cool kids vs nerds movie or kid vs bully. It's just a story about a bunch of very talented kids forming a band to impress this girl.

I love how they added enough “mistakes” to the recording that they didn’t sound like a group of professionals but rather a group of talented kids jamming together.

I love this song because it's so imperfect. Some of the bass and drumming is off, and the mixing is pretty bad, but that's the point, cause the band is finding their footing. You can tell it's on purpose cause Drive it Like You Stole It is much more well-made

There is one awesomely acted moment in this scene, which does not get talked about a lot. At 0:36, Conor goes back to the microphone, full of confidence. Then, just a few seconds later, Raphina gives him a look and a little smile. So tiny, but so powerfully acted by Lucy Boynton! At that moment, I think, Raphina has been won over by Conor.

I love how he smiles at the end when she does the head-bob to the "oriental' riff! It's just how he described it to her when he was explaining his vision for the video! Also, the fact that he storyboarded the whole video shows how committed he is to his art!
