Reminiscing about Pops.(1944-2022)
He copped a bramd new one in about 85' when he first got hired by United Airlines.
The credit union approved him instantly after he joined for 5 dollars.

He had the dopest boat on the block for about 5 years till we moved.

I own a 2018 Montauk 170 and I absolutely adore it. Although expensive (got it used for $39K), I really feel it's worth every penny. It's super tough, can handle snotty conditions like no one's business, fishes like a dream and it is just so fun (and easy) to drive. If you mostly just "cruise" or like full shelter from the elements, this may not be the boat for you. But for this striped bass fisherman, it's the best boat out there. The 2018 improvements to the 170 Montauk made me decide to sell my prior 2012 Montauk 150 and upgrade. Wider beam, new deeper-V hull design are great. The built-in 25 -gal fuel tank is waay better than the red plastic portable tanks on the deck and gives it more range. It also frees up the helm seat to store a lot of stuff which was needed (or it's the live well). The standard hydraulic steering is buttery smooth (no more locked up cable steering). The new fish box up front is welcome storage and also acts as a big cooler (it can hold a crap ton of beer). Plus the stern now has comfy and removable rear jump seats (I only got one because I don't host more than 4 people usually).

I still have a 1965 17ft whaler.
I use it to fish cruise crab duck hunt.
It's painted duck boat green and I get lots of looks from other boaters.
Yep old blue hull still in service.

I'm happy to see Boston Whaler still doing well. In the 70's and 80's I worked for Chase Chemical in Pittsburgh; we manufactured the toluene diisocyanate component of the polyurethane foam used in the BW boats. We shipped truckloads of the stuff.

My first boat was a 160SS. That was my entry into boating at a price I could afford. Upgraded to a ‘22 170 montauk and love it. Will eventually get a bigger whaler one day

Just bought a 2019 blue hull, 115 and a ski tow bar for 43, 000 . I love it so far but haven’t used it yet

I’ve never owned one myself, but if the price reflects the quality of these, they certainly could be a great boat .

Need to add a couple few feet but yes has possibilities in trying to post up against Yamaha if that happened as is crazy durable super versatile. Jet drives still dominate the Industry tho for actual serious effort product with only Yamaha and Sea-Doo throwing down going on forever. I want to say Boston Whaler did do a jet drive product for the Montauk once but yes Hinckley Yachts also does jet drive inboard once as well ...so much better...if done right especially for running into and out of near shore and Caribbean work.🎉🎉🎉

I had an 84 Montauk (in the 80s) with a Johnson 90 - unbeatable. I also had a 13 that was really good. Now I have a 75 Montauk with brand new repower Yami 90 SHO. The new ones don't give you this option - they force a Merc down your throat. My 75 is the last year without the smirk. It is a very light hull and in pristine condition. It will crack 45mph all day long. This one, I will never give up. BW should bring back an updated classic line for those that prefer the more elegant look.

You missed one of the main reasons these boats are so popular. The build quality is fantastic, they’re super durable and virtually unsinkable.

I own a 2022 17' Montauk and its a great all around boat.I can fish the lakes, Bay, and ocean waterways. Not too many 17' boats can do

Built like a tank. Versatile and easy to store and maintain. They hold value well if you hang onto them for a while. Unfortunately BW still prices them a bit too high.

Dauntless 13, 150 and 170 montauk are the greatest boats ever, imo.

Boston Whalers are the wettest boats on the water. You MUST wear foul weather gear to keep yourself dry, even if you go out on a beautiful sunny day.

If you want to have your teeth fillings loosened than buy one. The old ones are entirely overrated and full of water
