Rigging Explained: Standing & Running (Sailboat Parts Explained)

In part 3 of our series on sailboat parts, we dive into two types of rigging: standing rigging and running rigging. I use a 3D model and some diagrams to give you a good clear overview of the most important parts of the rigging of most sailboats.

Very helpful for us new sailors. Thanks. So what are the wire"s sheets called which you hoist various signals, ie at anchor, motoring and host country pennants?

I would suggest to add the importance of the chainplates as the base or anchor to the standing rigging, an extended bow pulpit is a "bow sprit " that allows for a cutter rig, different sail plans, hold anchor out away from the bow ( whose chain is controlled by a manual or electric windlass to raise & lower ) - - - -

The spreaders main purpose is bending the mast by directing the forces of the shrouds, at least on dinghys.
