In part 3 of our series on sailboat parts, we dive into two types of rigging: standing rigging and running rigging. I use a 3D model and some diagrams to give you a good clear overview of the most important parts of the rigging of most sailboats.

We wish this playlist kept going with videos about how to sail! This was super helpful though and keep up the good work!

John pointed out to me that I misspoke at 5:31. 'Mainsheet halyard' should've been 'mainsail halyard'.

To a brand new to sailing guy, this channel is invaluable! Planning to do my Yachtmasters in Gibraltar in May 2021 with a view to becoming a professional sailor. Huge lifestyle and career change and everything I am currently doing is aimed at achieving the change! Thanks for the channel.

Very helpful for us new sailors. Thanks. So what are the wire"s sheets called which you hoist various signals, ie at anchor, motoring and host country pennants?

I would suggest to add the importance of the chainplates as the base or anchor to the standing rigging, an extended bow pulpit is a "bow sprit " that allows for a cutter rig, different sail plans, hold anchor out away from the bow ( whose chain is controlled by a manual or electric windlass to raise & lower ) - - - -

See Captain Ron for rigging terminology.

I think you mean Mainsail Halyard... Most Sheets don't have their own Halyards...Wink

The spreaders main purpose is bending the mast by directing the forces of the shrouds, at least on dinghys.
