This movie's concept reminds me of that anime film, Wolf Children. At it's core, Wolf Children is a straightforward story about a single mother struggling with two children. Those children just happen to be wolves.
Son of Bigfoot is a story about a boy trying to connect with his absent father. Who just so happens to be Bigfoot.
They just throw in those one weird details so people will watch the films. If they didn't, less people would be interested.

Danny: *wakes up* Stay away from me. Help.
Jack: *helps Danny*
Danny: Don't come any closer. What-what are you?
Jack: Well am I not sure how to break this to you. But I am your dad.
Danny: Dad? No your not. Where is he? What did you do to him? Did you eat him?
Jack: No. I promise Danny. I am your dad.
Danny: Stop saying that. *breaks off branch* And back off.
Jack: Wow!!! Easy killer. Don't hit me to death. Calm down. You have nothing to fear.
Danny: *looks at pictures* Where did you get these?
Jack: Your mother sent them to me.

Danny: Could my life get any worst? Hey Danny your dad is famous. But not like a rock star. More like a hideous ghost that hides in the Ghost Zone.
Jack: Hideous? That's a bit strong.
Danny: Are you kidding? You're a monster. I can see why you ran away.
Jack: Wow. I didn't leave because I am a half- ghost. I left because I was being hunted.
Danny: Hunted?
Jack: You see a pharmaceutical company wanted to turn me into a lab rat. I left to protect you and your mother. I didn't tell you for your own safety.
Danny: What do you mean a lab rat?
Jack: Uhh. Does your mom know you're out here?
Danny: Yeah. She gave me the address and told me to come out here. Hello.
Jack: Danny. You're lying to me.
Danny: You and mom have been lying to me my entire life.
Jack: We had no choice. You have no idea how hard it was on both of us.
Danny: What about me?
Jack: It broke my heart that I couldn't be there when you needed me. Danny this is serious. Tell me how you found me.
Danny: I found your letters.
Jack: *sighs* You took a big risk coming here. Your mom much be worried sick.
Maddie: *is driving and gets stopped* What's going on?
Walker: Just a routine check.
Maddie: Routine? Doesn't look that way to me.
Walker: Maddie Fenton?
Maddie: What? Are you a police officer?
Walker: I am going have to ask you to turn off your engine and step out of the vehicle.
Maddie: Ok. *drives backwards and bumps into another vehicle*
Walker: Now it's futile. I suggest you get out of the car.
Maddie: *gets mad*
Jack: She sent me everything. I couldn't get enough of it. She's so proud of you.
Danny: I always thought mom threw these out.
Jack: Not a single one of them.
Danny: So what about me? Am I going to be like you?
Jack: No. You got nothing to worry about. You're already 13 and-
Danny: So what?
Jack: Umm-well you've symptoms by now.
Danny: Oh. You mean my eye and hair change colors and have a ghost form. That kind of thing? I am going to be a monster?
Jack: It's not so bad.
Danny: How is it not so bad? Spending the rest of my life hiding in Ghost Zone like a ghost?
Jack: Slow down. What else do you have? The changing color thing. The ghost form. What about your ears? When your adrenaline's up does your hearing change?
Danny: Sometimes it gets super loud. Like a migraine or something.
Jack: When's the last time you shaved your hands?
Danny: Uhh-ew. Never.
Jack: But you shave you back.
Danny: No. I don't shave anything.
Jack: This is amazing. My hands and back are where it started. By the time I was 12 I waxing my back every weekend with duct tape. But you're different. It's like you got all the good stuff. But none of the hair.
Danny: How is any of this good stuff?
Jack: There's a lot of good things about being a half-ghost. You're standing on that leg aren't you?
Danny: *has a flashback* You-you fixed my leg. How is that possible?
Jack: The healing touch hair and eye changing colors your own ghost form. It all goes with the territory.
Danny: Holy moly. What are you? Some kind of hairy wizard?
Jack: Ha. Nothing that exciting.
