Why not? I'm looking at this or a DM10 and the way I see it it's a trade off and they kind of balance out due to the extra cymbals and tom on the DM10, and the ease to convert it to mesh and still be cheaper. I haven't bought it yet though so still fishing for advice either way.

I like the sound of the second set. I don't know how they produced the sound, but I'm going to tune our acoustic drums (at church) to sound like that. ;)

I'm torn. I need to get an electric kit cause I'm moving to a flat so I can't really use my TAMA acoustic set. So I'm looking at 2 electric sets in a similar price range.
This Roland TD-11K or the Yamaha DTX522K.
Does anyone have any advice or recommendations as to which is the better kit? I'm not very experienced with electric kits, all I know is my play style is going to have to change a bit. With my acoustic set I usually just play along to my iPod, the TD-11K seems better for that aspect, but the DTX522K has triple zone cymbals, I'm a little worried on quality since they're cheaper with more technology and I can't really find any amazon reviews or anything for the Yamaha set.

Can the toms on this be upgraded to the mesh ones eventually?

Question: are the rubber pads dual zone or just the snare?

I am amazed how good the sounds are. Alesis in the same price range do not sound as good as this one, to my ears at least (even though you get alle mesh heads for 1000k with Alesis). I really have to check this one out in person.

If I replaced those toms with the mesh dual zone snares...would it then by dual zone or is it not designed to work with this module like that?
