30 years ago, I was stuck.
I knew I had talent, passion, and big dreams, but no one seemed to notice.
I was DJing, freelancing as a radio journalist for the BBC, organising big events, and running magazines.
Yet, sponsors weren’t biting, promotions weren’t coming, and I felt like I was shouting into the void.

𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀?

So, I did what any self-respecting underdog would do — I went BIG.
I jumped and grew wings on the way down.

I threw up a Hail Mary and landed on ITV’s Blind Date, the original reality TV juggernaut.
Not just any episode either — the Christmas Special, watched by 14 million people.
(For context, that’s like combining Love Island and Bake Off with Santa and a dash of reindeer magic.)

Long story short?
𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝗻.
My prize?
A dream trip to Lapland, filled with husky rides, reindeer sleds, fishing in frozen lakes, and meeting Santa himself.

Oh, and did I mention the lady who picked me hated me?

Yeah.
𝗔𝘄𝗸𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱.

But luckily this story doesn’t end there.
When we returned to the show to share our “romantic” holiday highlights, let’s just say the sparks flying weren’t the good kind.
And yet, that wild experience taught me something profound: to bet on myself.

𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆.
That Blind Date gamble got me an overseas gig, gave me the confidence to leave the UK, start fresh in Dubai, and build the career I have now — an award-winning international speaker, mentor, and business entertainer.
