Volkswagen Jetta Shift Lock Override

Just a normal Joe giving some help. Had a dead battery 2006 Volkswagen Jetta and needed it to push it. Most Volkswagen have a shift override which can be found under the shift cover. Its a yellow plastic spring that you push back. Basically push down the override and then push down on the shift lock button to set it in neutral. Also works if you don't have the keys, electrical problem, or like me dead battery. Hope it helps. #volkswagen #shift #override #jetta

Hope this helps someone. I used a screwdriver to PRY IT TO THE RIGHT away from the thing that looks like a small electric motor. Then push the button on the top of the shifter and it would move.

This worked to push car then after it was running it doesn't shift out of park without depressing the yellow lockout. Then won't register or go into gear just flashes wrench park (P)code

Push the override in what direction: left/inward, forward, backward, or down?
Guess I'll just see what's up myself, but I never like just guessing on an old plastic piece...

So question it works pushing it but always have to push it so I was thinking if I could replace the Yello plastic part so I don't have to repeat having to always push the reset button

I got a question right now my car wont go forward like it feels like it foesnt have enough power to move forward when i try putting drive but can reverse perfectly and on my shifting gear lights are all on and wont tell which is on drive or what please someone help i even check my oil stick n ig its dryed
