Excellent and powerful message. My change came late in life and I do see things differently than I did before, even though I went to church regularly all of my life.

Thank you for this message this morning. In our small group last night, we started discussing spiritual formation - becoming more Christ-like - and the necessary step that that is in the redemptive process. This was a great follow up teaching to keep me thinking and meditating on this concept! Thank you Pastor Guzik!

The tribulation saints DO NOT sin because they have the new heart and new spirit promised by God in Ezekiel as part of the new covenant. You can't try to talk around verb tenses to make the verses mean anything different than what it says. It's clear that these trib saints do not sin. But this is not how we operate today in the age of grace. We are not part of the new covenant that God promised to Israel which is the audience in 1st John.

This chapter is conflicting me deep into a crisis of faith. I know that I'm a child of God but I am in bondage to a deeply engrained habitual sin, which I have dealt with unsuccessfully so many times. So according to verse 8 I am a child of the devil. Am I both? Or God forbid, a child of the devil? I shouldn't be so powerless if Christ is in me, but i am.
