The city has $2, 000, 000 to dredge the marina.
The city politicians just didn't want to do it.

Thank you for the story! Have been here a few times and have seen the slow decline of the Marina... Imagine that with the right development it could be an amazing place to live... world class location...

Take the barricades down then so we can drive up to fish rather than leave our cars unattended half a mile away! Us fisherman use the area still and enjoy it!

The city will be attracting more and more homeless to SL if they want to wait for a future developer to take over this wrap project...sucks!

This is exactly what happened in South San Francisco. The land sat half demolished and untouched for ten years. It’s still not done. This is 100% the city’s fault. They could have enforced conditions and took the property if they were not fulfilled.

I remember the parking lots 3 years ago were definitely NOT beautiful. They were filled with ratchet in their loud cars smoking weed who had no hope for any kind of a future. Eventually they fenced off that side and now it’s closed completely to traffic. This is the side by the Marina Inn, Horatios, and El Torito.

City officials should have been more prudent. Deciding not to dredge the marina, closing it, and hoping for a luxury development? Creative solutions that preserved the marina were certainly possible. San Leandro had a successful beautiful place - now they've got nothing, except pollution and human excrement entering the bay. Blue-run cities . . . . . another west coast failure.

Marina used to be so beautiful what happened the mayor just doesn't care they care more about homeless when the homeless clearly doesn't care about no one.
