How old do you have to be to figure out you don’t put food in your tent? Bad decision resulted in death sentence for the bear.

"The campers secured food IN their tents..." Yeah, nothing wrong here...

If a bear comes into my camp in a town at 3 am, I’m packing up and going straight to the local hotel.

I'm a hiker and camper...that being said, I don't agree with having to destroy a wild animal because a human did something stupid. Food in the tent? In grizzly country? As Bumbling Biden would say, "C'mon, man." Always secure your food in a bear bag hung from tree limb at least 100 feet from your tent, or use a bear canister stored the same distance away. And if you cooked your food over a fire, hang the clothes you were wearing while cooking with the food.

Securing food in their tent?...humans in a tent with food is the opposite of secure when you're in bear territory. Its not the bear's fault that people figured out that outside exists when selfies became a thing and everyone ran outside to try and make their lives look fantastic on social media...and then follow zero common sense rules once they're out there.

If we put the food away, the bear won't come back. WTF

This loss of life could have been prevented. Why would anyone secure food in their tent. I was always taught to secure food away from your tent. Now two lives will be lost because of the campers ignorance.

Don’t kill the bear, he’s smarter than his dinner. Not on him!

Food in a tent....only a Californian would be this bear aware. That's gonna happen. Next time, don't do that

The Bear was just being a Bear. Leave it be. Humans think other animals are game and sport, so why shouldn't they be? Besides, in bear country you carry bear spray and a firearm or other weapons. The weapons go in the tent with you. The food does not!

Used to Elk hunt near this town, always slept with my 7mm rem mag in one hand and my 357 in the other, rather be paranoid than a sleeping bag burrito.

Killing a bear in revenge. I hope you never find it. Stupid people pay the price for stupid actions. The animal is looking for food, not part of a gang out for a night of fun.

When we camped in the Adirondacks we were told to make sure all of our food scraps were disposed of in a special bear proof trash bin up near the park office. Then we were told to not have anything else out and to secure everything in our vehicle, which we did. No food in the tent. When people who know about bears tell you what the rules are you had better follow them.

Everyone in the comments section being a cold-hearted bastard I gotta say. Fine, terrible mistake on their part with the food in the tent. She certainly paid for it with a nightmarish and painful death. But what if that was your mother?

Whoa, did he say the campers secured food in their tent!?
End of story.
Hey fat tourists with phone cams, when u feed bears (or any wild animals) or treat them like a pet they can become unafraid of people and end up badly.
