I remember the Sony that recorded the photos on a floppy drive. This one would be fun to try!

They also had a floppy disk version. back in those days. It was pretty handy because you don't need any converter, just record directly to the floppy disk which is the most common media back in those days.

My parents had a Mavica either just like this one or very similar! Wild how far tech has come.

Also, my mom still has an Olympus E-520 in her closet with a handful for 4/3 lenses lol 😂

Price per megabyte was probably unbeatable when it launched, then of course flash came down in price to be competitive, but 156 MB per cheap disc you can find in a supermarket back then (at most a standard electronics/PC store) ain't too shabby

I actually love this because Mini DV/Memory Card is a bit cumbersome at times. I also love the convenience of CDs

My parents had one of these! I found their old disc collection but many of them are not finalized so I can't read them in a computer...I might have to get a used camera just to finalize the disc!

I loved the quality of Sony cameras back then, but hated having to use proprietary media/software in their cameras. I wish I knew about this one back in the day.

Does it scrape the insides of the cd drive when you move the camera around alot? I would think the disks are at least somewhat flexible and spin fast enough to create some decent gyroscopic force. 🤔

I think the real shame about this sized CD format is that it didn't seem to get much love outside of Sony products. It would have been fun if CD singles came on this 3inch format, at the time.
