This is a cool setup to creating melodies without the actual theory behind it being explained, while using theory based techniques 😂 I love it! 🔥

The key to producing fire melodies is to always enjoy it, while your making it 👌🏽. Ed demonstrates it perfectly

Ableton workflow tip, if you wanna copy a note an octave up or down, do the classic ctrl c, ctrl v AND maj + up arrow (octave up) or down arrow (octave down)
Hope that helped :)

I've spent at least a month of my life studying music theory, yet I always end up watching these types of videos.

My favorite part of all the videos you do, is when you say "That's fire!", when you know you've done something cool! What joy it brings me to see this, I understand this feeling and appreciate that magic. You're an amazing talent, keep making content!

This changed everything for me. Now I can get all my phrasing figured out prior to picking up my guitar. Doing this is going to inspire my beat selection too.

An even easier way to put notes in and then build chords is to just use the new scale option in Ableton. You take a note, and every other note in the scale ascending creates chords of varying complexity. Start with three notes, and you get a triad, four, and you get a seventh, then a ninth, an eleventh, a thirteenth, and so on.

Also, if you find your music is sounding too congested, especially in the midrange, take your chords and ONLY use the third and the seventh. You don't actually need the root or the fifth, as they don't imply any tonality, and only serve as a base for your minor/major thirds to have a place of reference that explains to your ear what they are and why. This works very well when you have basslines/808s that tend to stick to the root note of each chord in your progression, and allows you to spread out your harmony among different instruments, which tends to make your music sound much more locked in with itself.

The way you explain how to make chords is so easy to understand. I’ve watched some other videos on how to make chords, but this simple explanation was really helpful.
