Horse Trailer Video 1

Part 1 of our horse trailer camera installation video series features the installation of Rostra's 250-8149 infrared-equipped hinge-mount camera for interior visibility while on the road. In this video we detail mounting the camera and routing its power/video extension harness to the exterior of the trailer to eventually mate with our trailer camera interface harness.

-------------------------- Installation Steps --------------------------

Step 1
Mark a location through which to route the harness from the trailer's interior camera.

Step 2
Drill a 16mm hole to route the camera's harness into the trailer's tack room.

Step 3
Use two self-tapping screws to permanently mount the camera's hinge bracket to the interior
wall of the trailer.

Step 4
Route the camera's harness through the previously drilled hole and attach the camera to its
hinge mount with the included screws.

Step 5
From the trailer's tack room (if equipped), route a fish tape from the interior to the exterior.
This installation utilized the open square channel tubing of the trailer to do so.

Step 6
Use the fish tape to pull some of the length from the camera's 10-meter harness from the
exterior to the interior of the trailer.

Step 7
Use the included dielectric grease to coat the pins of the camera and extension harness to
prevent corrosion. Thread the two harnesses together.

Step 8
With the camera and extension harness connected, use a pencil or marker to mark evenly
spaced locations where the harness will be attached to the interior of the tack room.

Step 9
Using a drill, attach screw mount cable ties to the interior wall of the tack room to hold the
camera's video extension harness in place and out of the way.

Step 10
Insert the camera extension harness into the screw mount cable ties and tighten the cable ties
around the harness to hold it in place tightly.

Step 11
Pull the remaining slack from the camera extension harness back to the exterior of the trailer.
