What is Friday Night Funkin'?

Friday Night Funkin' is a rhythm game in which the player controls a character called Boyfriend, who must defeat a series of opponents in order to continue dating his significant other, Girlfriend. The player must pass multiple levels, referred to as "weeks" in-game, containing three songs each. Each week, the player faces a different opponent, though some deviate in structure from this via the inclusion of multiple opponents. During gameplay, the opponent will sing a pattern of notes (represented as arrows) which the player must then mirror by using the arrow keys or the W, A, S, and D keys. Some songs introduce more complicated patterns, with the player's pattern sometimes varying from the opponent's or both singers engaging in a duet.

What is Shovelware's Brain Game?

Shovelware's Brain Game is a round-based comedic quiz show game made by Shovelware Systems, an alternate group of Shovelware Studios. Every round, up to six players take turns answering questions from various categories. Players can choose one of three random categories when it is their turn. They are asked a question from selected category and given four options to answer, correct answer will award 10 points. Other contestants can also answer the question and will get points depending on their speed, with the fastest one receiving 5 points or 10 points if the contestant whose turn it was answered wrong, and each other receiving one less point. After the round ends, the person with the most points wins and get a grand prize. Some questions will be visual, a special guest "Boardy, The SMART Board" will come out from the backstage and show a picture for the question. Every question has a chance to award a bonus prize, this is announced with a special sound, everyone who answers correctly will get the bonus prize. The game show is hosted by the "Dancing Banana" and questions are read by the "Announcer".

Ideas for mechanics:

1. Having To Answer Questions By Using Arrows (Most Complicated)
2. Every so often when the buzzer hits you have to dodge a car battery
3. Hit prize notes or die

Concepts:

- FORCED disabled ghost keys when it's not your turn (you will get buzzed and lose a chunk of 'HP'" (or a 3-X system can be used too)
- TIEBREAKER - HARDMODE: You must press an optional note mid-song that allows you to butt-in and sing someone else's notes (from the other contestants), but it would be filled with trap / buzzer notes - however you will gain points and will LOSE if you do not gain the most points.
- The crowd may appear at random cheering, obscuring the bottom of the screen in an arc (left to right), and will will throw confetti when leaving obscuring random places of the screen as it falls.
- Hitting a buzzer note will force you to answer an actual question (multiple choice - choose using keybinds and space to select)

*Mechanics*

Buzz in:
Every turn you must press a random button to buzz in (switch characters, failure to do so will add to a counter when you get three X’s its game over )

Boardy:
Sits in the background and will ask you to answer a question by pressing the corresponding arrow (his arrows will look like a tablet so differ from Bananas they will also come in all at once)

Different Perspective:
Bananas nephew will swap the camera which will cause the note indicators to switch to a different part of the screen

Knife!:
Orange will make himself prominent tossing knifes at the current player where you must dodge it (getting hit will result in game over)

Stage hazard:
Car batteries and sandbags will fall at random similar to oranges knife you must dodge them

Fire hazard:
Unavoidable fire that will disable note regeneration and slowly drain your health for a period of time

Apples trick:
Notes will flip to their opposite when approaching the arrows

Pears lecture:
Will appear in the middle of the screen to start talking(distraction)

Cheeky Reference:
Barrel notes will be thrown into the mix
(One won’t kill you just hurt for 30% but getting hit by multiple during the duration will result in game over even if you still have health)

Interview/questioning:
Doughnut cop and broccoli will randomly show up on the screen (distraction)

I can imagine the cutscene before this song being where the trio are on the gameshow and have just started. Then for the first selection of Categories, BF picks a brand new topic that has just been added to the game. Something to do with music. The announcer looks over what questions are usable, but only finds one, where it declares a rap battle between the host and the contestants (being BF, GF & Pico). Not sure where it goes from there, but hey, gives a chance to post the combo/score on their pedestals.

I would love to see this song in a mod where the three answer questions about FNF mods

Here’s an idea: when it comes to the perspective of the player, has individual podiums (this idea uses 4) and have different characters behind them. Near the end of the player’s turn, let the banana move forward or back to a different character’s podium, almost like how the mechanism works in the Brain Game. Then at the final few turns let the camera zoom out to show all 4 contestants and have one character have an animation for an arrow.

For example, let’s say BF, GF, Pico, and Senpai were the contestants. At the end, let BF have an animation for the right arrow, GF for the down arrow, Pico for the up, and so on.
