We are fortunate to have such fine art schools in America. My ancestors devoted a lot to the arts. They felt music and art could speak when words fail to communicate. Art can heal art can inspire art can express. Art has meaning. From the time I was a child I admired the great works in Saint Peter’s Christchurch in Ohio cuddling against my mom as I learned about God and the world. All around the church were statues and paintings. I would learn my mother had painted these statues and their significance. My grandmother was the church organist. There were incredible stain glass windows all around me from Tiffany. Some people are born with a silver spoon in their mouths… mom handed me a paint brush. My father was a sailor he had worked in Pearl Harbor. He was the greatest story teller on earth. He gave me a wooden treasure chest one year from the beach after a ship wreck. It was just a wooden box. I didn’t know what I would find. It was filled with crabs. Dad laughed and made dinner as he talked about the ocean. The crabs were blue Maryland crabs. I had never seen a creature more colorful. Dad after the hurricane told me tales of mermaids and great tall ships. I was given a can of paint we cleaned out the wooden box and I painted the treasure chest. Dad said I could have it all my life and add to it treasures from around the world. We used the little box in little theater which was a child part of the palace theater in Canton Ohio. We lived in Ohio because of McKinley monument and the presidential rose garden. Flowers nature and dogs animals and the fascination of God creation inspired me. My dad had dreamed his whole life about leaving a legacy to the world. If he could plant one tree that a person could sit under and enjoy then that is a purpose…. If he could save one life… he wanted to be the best father in the world to me… to allow me the tools to create. He lived a very good life and the church amusement parks and music were a daily foundation. Art is everywhere in my fathers eyes. I went to school with his pencil box filled with crayons. In hopes of being as great as Rembrandt one day. My art they insisted to be original. They wanted me to tell my story not someone else’s.

My sister Rosanne and Christine also had the same parents and we would be dressed in clothing my mother made and designed . She was a fashion designer. A student at Timkens. Rose was always quite mom and dad would sit her in the presidential rose garden Among the flowers. I was river. I was named after the Genesee river. My mother had honeymooned at Niagra Falls. My name was River White wave of Justice and after Geneva and generous.

My first painting was a crayon drawing of a lake birds and trees. The cardniel represented a visitor from heaven. I was a vip student.

I would study at Carnegie museum and on home study with my parents. My mother was a substitute teacher. I would design the art boards. I went to college at the University of Akron and Studied commercial art life drawing and participated in the creation of the Quaker Oats tourist center working with my class on fundraising for the project. I graduated from art instruction schools in 2018 where I’ve been a life time student. I raised one of Charles Shultz beagles snoopy and one of two of Judy Garland dogs toto. I love to paint pictures of Dogs and cats on my memorial page with ZooPix by chewy. I teach disabled children art. My daughter created Christmas ornaments. It is my dream to continue painting and leave lasting work behind. If it can brighten someone’s day.
