This is a million times easier to understand than the definition in my book. Thank you! The book makes it so unnecessarily difficult.

how did you know to stop at the first 3 terms

tijean

This is extremely late but I don’t understand why you only added the first three terms? Where did you get that from ?

Is there a way to do this without plugging in an arbitrary amount of partial sums?

I'm trying to do a similar type of problem but, after plugging the series into my calculator, I'd end up needing over 10, 000 terms!

Obviously I'm not gonna sit there and write out S1 - S10000, so this plug-and-chug / trial and error method of doing this is impractical. And I'm not gonna write "my calculator says this" for my work...

I don't understand what happens after 1:25
Do the zeros after the decimal signify how accurate you get? And how would you do a problem where they ask you to estimate some series to x decimal places?

Yes. Imagine 0.01 as and that's why you have those two zeroes there. Anything with two zeroes after the decimal point has to be less than and so therefore, anything with two zeroes has an error accurate to two decimal places,

Can you please also explain in questions where they just say give the sum within an error of say 10^-6 . I can do questions with dp, but not those
