Wow, I would think this type of jet landing would burn the hell out of the nonskid deck.

Little known fact.
The British Harrier of which the U.S. marines used was primarily designed by the U.S..
The U.S. passed it off to the British and let them take full credit for it. The U.S. does this in every area of research. It usually includes giving the IP rights to the foreign companies, no strings attached.

Wouldn't trapping these conventionally be more efficient? Faster, safer, less fuel etc. I'm not sure I understand the purpose of the VTOL, aside from allowing smaller ships to have and deploy fighter jets. I guess that's kind of big? I don't know, no idea of the scale, how these are being integrated and how much they'll be using VTOL. As I type this though I just had a scary thought - wth these gonna do in a compressor stall?

If jet blast deflectors are extensively used in conventional carriers to fend off the dangers of focused scorching hot jet blasts onto whatever may find itself in the way, how do they protect the deck surface of Marines carriers against the repeated and continued harmful effects of VSTOL jets?.

I can tell this is DCS, but I think it’s very cool to see an F-35 land vertically because it wasn’t meant to 😎😎
