Women want equal relationships, but why do they keep leaving the men that provide exactly that?

Could it be that the men that are exactly what women have asked for, not be what they really want? Time after time, they leave their "equal" loving men for guys that are the opposite of what they ask for.

1) The euphoria you feel when you first fall for someone is not proof that you have found your true love. You can have these feelings for the very worst person on earth.
2) This euphoria will fade after about sixth months. The passing of this euphoria is not proof that something is wrong with your relationship.
3) The euphoria is supposed to be replaced by a commitment that is not built on feelings but on your sense of right and wrong.
4) If your moral compass is broken--specifically, if you are self-centered--you will be unable to establish this commitment and you will bounce from one relationship to the next.
5) Stay out of bars.

I stopped dating a while ago (other than a 5 months trip through insanity last year). In fact, before then, I had stopped dating in 2005 after I booted out my last insane GF. 19yo guy here - just got out of a 27.5mo relationship in mid June - first ‘serious’ / long term relationship, and only person I’ve ever been with. You really hit the nail on the head here Joker...I was always catering to her and I let myself go. Stopped doing my own hobbies/interests and focused on her bc that’s what I thought she wanted. 1st year was great and even after that everything was still fine, but we started going downhill after 1.5yrs until we were holed up together during COVID. She broke up w me stating that she “need(ed) some time apart” and that that’s just where she was at right then. I was devastated as I had put her upon a pedestal and not cared for myself. I was Codependent. For months I thought it was bc she was stressed w college or she was depressed, and while that may have been true I’ve realized through all the self-help reading and videos online that I was the issue.
