Unfortunately this is true. Ironically Classical architecture is not really taught and in fact frowned upon in schools of architecture.

I love the actual good looking old buildings like Art Deco but hate the crappy new ones that look boring and something a kindergartner made.

This goes for pretty much anything these days, as well, seeing as technology is still continually evolving and won’t stop anytime soon. This also explains why things used to have a sense of charm and authenticity back in the day, which also explains why nostalgia for the 70s, 80s and 90s is so prevalent today even for people who didn’t even experience those decades. I believe people will always keep romanticizing the older days (at least pre-2000s) because technology wasn’t as advanced at the time, allowing for more human creativity, hence more authenticity. Just look at anything from the 80s or 90s, and even a little bit of the early 2000s. Most things produced and built at the time had soul. Of course this authenticity gets stronger the farther back you go just like you showed in the video with the old renaissance architecture. Unfortunately, this soul was taken away by technology advancing exponentially. This is just my perspective at least.

My motivation to be an architect is to help discontinue the cycle of boring, modern buildings. Even rich people seems to choose the modernized, plain-ass design and it speaks to their blandness. Besides, you can make a building beautiful without making it look cheap.

I do like modern architecture, but old architecture just hits different

I wouldn’t call it “ugly” because I know that the architect puts so much efforts into building it, but I still prefer ancient architecture more than modern architecture because in the ancient era, there were no technology, no AutoCAD, no site analysis programs. They have to draw everything with their hands, and yet, they made the building more beautiful than the modern time. I like how the ancient architecture has a lot of designs and facade. Not only that it is difficult to draw, but also difficult to build. The details of ancient architecture are impressive. That’s what modern architecture has missed.

That's only partly true. You can build affordable and quick using traditional methods, combined with industrial scale. The Belle Epoque of the 19th century constructed many major cities in the world in incredibly short time. And still almost all of it is absolutely beautiful! ❤

Concrete molds can be used to build old style buildings quick and cheap. Enough excuses. Architects should just start using their imagination.
