My cousin is married to a guy who was in Tower 2 when the attack happened. He was on the 67th floor I think he said. And when he finally got out of the building there were jumpers hitting the ground. He still goes to see a therapist because of the things that happened that day. My cousin told me he has horrific nightmares occasionally and that he once told her that as he exited the building a jumper impacted the ground about 75-80 ft from him and he was blasted with blood splatter and parts of the body. And he said he can't ever get the sound of the impact and the view of it out of his head. She said she hears him crying in the shower pretty often. He's such a great guy too. It's unimaginable what it must be like for him.
Update... Sadly Matt took his own life on Dec. 27th 2022 . He left no note other than ...
" I love you and I am sorry "
On a dry erase board on the refrigerator of the home he shared with his wife ( my cousin ) and their pets. He had recently been diagnosed with Small Cell lung cancer after a few weeks of having what he thought may have been a chest cold or Bronchitis. The Cancer was already quite advanced and he was told he had a short time left and that Chemotherapy and other treatments would probably do little for him and would likely make what time he had left more miserable and shorter..
He was 56 years old

How horrible…for the people in the tower and for the people who had to watch in horror and couldn’t save them. What a helpless feeling.

Within 3 seconds I knew exactly what he was talking about. The level of helplessness, terror, loss and rage all hitting at the same time is immeasurable.

An absolutely horrible day for all humanity. God rest the fallen.

The people who jumped are the single most disturbing thing to me on that day. Imagine going to work like any other day, and not even an hour later you are jumping from one of the buildings. I can’t even comprehend the thoughts racing thru those peoples minds before they jumped. Terrifying

He was my commissioner(NYPD) when I was hired 7/2001. We were pulled out of the academy for 2.5 months from 9/11 morning until late November.
It was a big wake up call and made us all in the NYPD academy grow up overnight.

I would never recover from seeing that. People just don't realize the most valuable asset this world has is PEOPLE. Every human being is like diamond. Doesnt matter how GOD created you.

Out of everything that happened that day, those jumpers had the most impact on me. I worked at a church and I was constantly crying in the priest's office about it.

I hope and pray that every innocent soul lost on that awful day is resting In Peace with the angels. You may be gone but I swear you will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. 😢

We were watching it live on tv. I was in first grade. All of a sudden my teacher burst in tears. Later we found out her dad was in top floors of the tower. He didn't make it. As a class we planted a tree for him by the field. Now it's ginormous. I hope the tree stays there for many more years. This was in Brentwood, CA. LA

How heartbreaking that all someone has to say was "they're jumping" and you know exactly what they are talking about. 10 seconds in you just know. Ugh. 💔

I had a professor who was visiting the city on 9/11 and was there at the base of the buildings at the time. He witnessed the jumpers, and he never came back to teach. He had a complete mental breakdown after the experience. The substitute professor, who was only supposed to be there for one class, became permanent for the remainder of the semester.

The thing I admire most about these videos is the fact that you're giving these men a place to talk about the things that they seem to be holding on to for so long.

Watching they call her “the lady in the dress” she jumped and her last bit of dignity in life she as holding her dress down as she was falling to her death. That picture will never leave my mind

I still can't get near that area till this day without getting anxiety. I was one of the lucky ones. I was supposed to be on floor 90 I was running late so I stopped at the lower level buying breakfast. So me not caring od being late that day saved my life.

I will never ever forget as long as I live. I've listened to and watched every piece of footage and media from that day that I could find. I owe it to those victims. The regular everyday mothers fathers and sons that were simply going about their lives and were then murdered.

"They basically evaporated." I'm trying to imagine, not imagine and unimagine that at the same time.

First firefighter killed on 9/11 was Danny Suhr from Engine 216 in Brooklyn. A jumper landed on him. I had the same thought. Was on the Brooklyn heights prominade watching it in person. At first we couldn’t tell what was falling. Then we realized it was people. I think from our vantage point we watched a few dozen people jump. It still haunts me 21 years later.

On that day they showed on TV a lot of stuff that was never aired again (and with good reason). I saw a woman jumping. While falling, her skirt was being lifted and she instinctively held it down with a hand. Seeing such a normal gesture in such an extreme situation was a punch to the gut for me. I cannot even explain it. She felt so... Human. I can't imagine what must have passed through her head at that moment.

I remember watching it on TV. You could see people jumping. I was sick to my stomach. Crying, crying, having trouble believing what i was seeing. So horrific.
