I think, if the US wants to remain the leader of the 'western alliance', it is really going to have to ramp up its support for Ukraine, not just in weapons, but also in policy matters. The US administration has never clearly stated that they want Ukraine to win, and they have dragged their feet on crucial military support for Ukraine time and again. To me, it looks like a policy of appeasement, which only encourages and excites Putin to do more, to go father, to harass Estonia and Moldova, and to verbally threaten all of Europe, especially Poland and the Baltics.. There has been a faillure of western leadership, and if France decides it can support Ukraine to win against Russia, then good on them! Britain has also been more effective than the Biden administration, especially in the beginning. Even today, Biden said that Ukraine didn't need to join NATO! Another attempt not to provoke Putin, when this appeasement has only ever encouraged him to be more aggressive. Meanwhile, the war is prolonged, and Ukrainians continue to die. They are effectively degrading the Russian military for the west, but can be abandoned as allies if it interferes with Biden's re-election. Give me a break. I listened to General Breedlove today, and his criticism of the 'containment' strategy is much sharper than mine. Of course, I can't speak for my own little stupid country, Canada, which even today is refusing to increase its Nato contribution. We, however, are being led by an idiot, who thankfully will soon be out of office.

The Mirage can carry more weapons at a longer distance than the Gripen. It's more comparable to the early models F16s. It also depends on what Mirage Variant they get. The Dash 5 is very capable air to air and air to ground.

Little exaggerated to call 4 ships a fleet isn't it? That would be considered a task unit or maybe a battle group. The min number I could find for a fleet would be 2 battle groups. Min number for a battle group would be 4. So 8 vessels at min for a fleet. And that would be a tiny tiny fleet. Most fleets are at least 15 to 20 ships. If not many more
