Sometimes you have to break something down in order to build it up. The same holds true for this Medical API Hack! Watch as we go on Epic’s App Orchard and deconstruct an app that uses SMART FHIR. Kevin Maloy, MD (our favorite physician-software-engineer) will walk us through it step by step.

WHAT IS FHIR?
Starting at the end of 2019, most health systems and doctors offer the ability for a patient to connect any application of their choice to their medical records. It's called FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource), and it's currently available to patients and developers at places like Beaumont and Henry Ford Health System.
