Ko is a hell of a blocker and great for redzone and goal line

I'm a bit annoyed Cody Thompson and Keenan Isaac missed the roster. Josh Hayes got there on special teams, but my goodness, when has our special teams coverage unit ever been good?!

Okay, so, my take:
QBs--I understand the desire to keep 3, but there's a lot of young talent that will get scooped up by other teams if we release them, so I get the desire to keep 2.

RBs--I like the 3 they kept (really like them, actually!). I really see a 4th as being unnecessary. You keep one of the non-roster guys on the practice squad. I mean, face it. If we're forced to go to a 4th RB because at least 2 of our 3 are injured, we're in trouble anyway.

WRs--I'm with you about keeping 6 (at least). I'd be almost shocked if Cody Thompson and/or Ryan Miller weren't scooped up by another team. I like the 5 we have (I'm fine with keeping Kam Johnson, actually), but I think Thompson especially showed too much to relegate him to the practice squad and expect him to stay there.

TEs--Frankly, I would have let Culp go, but kept Keift (kept Keift? that's a mouthful!). Maybe it's a Joe Dirt kind of affinity for Keift that I have, but he really feels like that seriously blue collar guy, and I love that. That said, keep 3, not 4. We agree on that much. I'd much prefer they keep Cody Thompson over Culp.

OLine--I'm fine with keeping 9. Frankly, this isn't my area of expertise at all, so I just have to trust in Licht.

DLine--Love that Brown made it, and like the guys they kept. Brewer is the only one I'm a tad sad to see go other than that, but you can only keep so many interior DLine guys. If I'm a lower tier team, however, I'm scooping up Brewer and putting him on my team. Dude looked good in preseason.

OLBs--Had to keep 6. There's no way on earth I'm letting either Watts or Ramirez anywhere near a practice squad. Both were way too promising. That spot for Cody Thompson had to come from the TE pool. No way, no way, no way on earth I'm letting either Ramirez or Watts near a practice squad.

ILB--we're in agreement. Kept the right guys and the right number.

DBs--only big surprise for me was not seeing Keenan Isaac on the list. Someone did some breakdown film on just him and the dude was just glued to WRs every play. Clearly I missed something in keeping some of those bottom guys.

Special Teams--no surprise here.

Kinda shocked Keenan Isaac didn’t make the roster, considering we kept 11 DBs. Wish we could’ve found a way to keep him. Also wish we were able to sneak Kalen Deloach onto the roster, but that’s just me thinking with my heart

Everyone seems to forget we signed Sterling Shepard in the off season, idk why he's not on the 53.. he's better than Johnson, and arguably Palmer and the rookie out of Washington. Supposedly he's gonna be on the practice squad, but still. He's a veteran guy with proven skills

Lets hope Mayfield don't get hurt if he does then you will see if Trask is any good when he plays for real .... Maybe then they will miss Wolford....

I think the reason that they're 5 WRs and 4 TEs is maybe the scheme. They may use a TE in the FB position from time to time.

Why would you want 3 QBs on the roster when you have the emergency QB option as the 54th player

There’s more than the preseason game there’s practices that the coaches see traits of players ability. Not to mention Baker Mayfield raved about Cam Johnson, so I’ll take his word over yours any day.

JTS is the one that needs to go, that's how you keep that extra WR.

Idk why yall so mad about Thompson and miller not making the 53 ..they wouldn’t get any playing time 5 WRs is fine because you can split culp out also our rbs will be spread out as wrs at times as well or just featured in the passing game ..we’re fine with 5

6 edge rushers were kept moreso foe the kickoff rules being like an extra defensive play (shorter distance to sprint downfield) and also cos Nelson and JTS are on 1 yr deals so its an eye on future.

There has to be a reason they're keeping Ko Keift other than blocking. He has to have some plusses that they see, and we don't.

Good job!... I didn't think Izien or Bryce Hall were locks to make the team by any means. I can understand holding on to Hall because most of the other DB's play slot or safety. Surprised Cody Thompson didn't make the 53 initially, at least, with Jarrett out the first 4 games. Thompson has special teams value, at least under the old rules, but he does play slot it seems and we are loaded there with Godwin & McMillan.

Rakim Jarrett is starting the year on PUP list, so he’ll be back after 4 weeks. That’s the 6th receiver

I would have cut Ko and Watts and kept an extra WR and CB but I’m fine with everything else.

I know if they could find someone better than Brandon Walton, they would replace him. However, that ninth or tenth OL, is very difficult to find.

Most of the cuts have cleared waivers and can be added to the PS

Also disagree about 6 OLB being a lot. New kickoff (and hopefully we score a lot) should favor that position, and Bowles has always used and rotated OLB a lot.

6 DT is a bit excessive though imo. I would've dropped the last guy for Grier. A 5th lb would be a good call. LVD retiring, Dennis injury prone and not a scheme fit (MLB), Britt is only viable as an MLB, and that leaves you with an unproven Russell :/

Thompson should have been on the roster. Bucs need veterans at both ILB and OLB. JTS and SVD shouldn’t even be on the field. Need more depth at ILB and a better edge rush from OLB. Think the edge rush needs a lot of improvement if the Bucs are going to make it to the playoffs .
