Keith heads to South TX to the land of rattlesnakes and brush country. Being this close to the coast, it’s hot, sandy, and full of big deer just waiting to show off their racks.

Feeding deer tortillas is but one of the unique characteristics about Gist Kinsman Ranch and the family of four that runs it. Having an abundance of shade and water in order to keep these deer healthy can be challenging in such a harsh climate.

Join Keith as he heads south and learns about these monster whitetails that reside in the brush country.

It appears that the breeding program is placing a lot of emphasis on rack size.  The racks that I have seen here are nothing like a deer in the wild.  There is much more horn and weight.  Does the added weight of the rack place an undue stress on the deer?  I also am not a huge fan of the non typical rack.
