I think the connection between social media and narcissism is clear as glass. Social media reduces our contact with other people to a minimum, to the absolutely most shallow interaction possible. 100 years ago, people were largely stuck with whom they lived around, so people had to develop a personality and became likeable, so others would want to be around them. Social media took that away from us, and all we need to do is filter out any critics and only surround ourselves with people who agree with us.

No generation before experienced what it's like to be surrounded by thousands of people who all agree with us. And you can tell.

Good video, my answer to the question she posed at the end: I think we found the female counterpart to the male loneliness epidimic. These two are negatively feeding into each other and causing them to get worse. Men are lonely and form parasocial relationships with these women who then have their ego's ballooned by the all the attention they recieve and refuse to date people that would normally be in their league; causing the men to be lonely and it repeats.

I think the most difficult part of a scientific study of narcissism is that narcissists will do everything in their power to deny said narcissism. All it takes is one narcissist near top of the chain to convince everyone that the data is invalid. There is nothing quite like being gaslit about being gaslit.

FINALLY. Been saying it since early 2021 and realized it's been a problem for a while now. Been called every name in the book for it. As someone who was the Scapegoat in a narcissistic family system, and got hyperfixated on the subject after starting my process of Narcissistic Abuse recovery, I am hyperaware of the signs and the symptoms.

Diagnosible pathological narcissism is so prevalent in women today it's not even funny.

Many of those "women are crazy" jokes and stories that people have been telling since the dawn of time are literally just textbook narcissism disguised as "girls just wanna have fun".

"Girls never want to admit they're wrong, girls never apologize, girls are hyper insecure, girls accuse you of things they be doing themselves".

All of it is clear cut, textbook narcissistic behavior. 🙈🙊🙉

Never wanting to admit your wrongdoings and never wanting to apologize is an ego problem. Being hyper insecure and projecting things to defend yourself is an ego problem.

Immediately assuming that someone is your enemy simply because they disagree with you on something is an ego problem.

That chick whining about being taken to Cheesecake Factory is not only narcissistic af, she's also EXTREMELY delusional! She's talking about herself like she's not just a 10, but like she thinks she's an 11 or even a 12, when in reality she's MAYBE a 3! Probably a 1.5 or less without the 5 hours worth of makeup and prep work! This is what happens when the media tells all little girls that they are born amazing, gorgeous, and perfect & the rest of the world just needs to open their eyes and they'll see it. Don't get me wrong, I have 3 daughters, and I tell them every chance I get that I think they're beautiful and smart and amazing, but I also try to teach them that they need to work hard and be humble/compassionate to everyone they meet. They are so much more than their outward appearance, and it's what is in their heads, and their hearts is where their true value lies. Sorry for the long rant, it just makes me angry that so many people out there that have a voice keep telling my girls and their generation that they only have value in their beauty, and the world OWES them everything they want, simply for being "beauitful" and breathing.

This is a cultural epidemic. If you're on social media, Narcissism is being normalized to you. Social media platforms endorse behaviors like what is common in Narcissists, and rewards you for practicing these behaviors. This is not something that is only becoming normalized in women. This is effecting everyone who uses a lot of these social media platforms.
