He most likely had doubts about her integrity as a person from other interactions, and decided to see how far her arrogance and entitlement went.
He got his answer, and saved his son from a lifetime of misery at the hands of a horrible woman.

Haha, my last wife told me she wanted to be treated like a 50s house wife, so I let her stay home and take care of the home. Only she wouldn't lift a finger to take care of the home. I asked her to clean and cook only to be called a sexist pig. I then told her to go out and get a job then. Again she repeated she want to be taken care of like a 50s house wife. I explained to her what was expected of a 50s house wife and then she started breaking everything in my home. I have no idea how women have gotten it in their heads that they shouldn't be expected to do anything. It's simple, if I do it all then I don't need you. BTW my new wife is amazing. She even makes my lunches.
