India's Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mk II rocket launches the IRNSS-1J (NVS-01) satellite to space from Second Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Center in India.
IRNSS-1J (NVS-01) is a replacement satellite for the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System. The constellation will provide India with an alternative to GPS and will be used for military and civilian use.
