Banks are always expensive but - at least in Singapore - they are stable as they are well regulated. If you're a dividend investor like me they make very good sense to invest in. Personally I prefer DBS and UOB ( sorry guys for contradicting you!) as they have more of the oomph factor and move faster! DBS paying quarterly dividends is also attractive for those who like a more regular income. For me they're all doing very well despite the recent hiccups over the SVB saga and I'm confident they'll rebound soon. Meanwhile sit back and enjoy the dividends.

Another great video guys - really love it when you focus on the banks.

I appreciate your teach, I didn't know Bank use P/B ratio to value. I just guesstimate via the dividend and the payout ratio. But the thing was that I also haven't bought any for a long time, honestly its just amateur lucky I bought during COVID.
Thanks for teaching all these.

A guru from FM95.8 daily review told listeners to wait for STI correction to 3000. USA inflation not yet cool down, rate hike likely on 22nd mar n May. So my wife n i will wait n hope OCBC can drop below $11.50 n buy some more with cash n CPF OA.

The big boys are in these three counters. They drive the market by using them to influence the STI. Retail investors get the crumbs while they get the meat.

Hi, Can you do a round table on the recent SVB and CS?

Damn. Wanted to start a position with DBS when my pay comes. Sadly the SVB incident doesn't seem to have affected Singapore banks much. The tasty SVB dip came and went like a flash.

Thank you for the great discussion. However, I don't understand the P/B charts in the valuation segment. Shouldn't the P/B lines be sloping upward since the banks' book value are increasing over the years?

Another good video. I'm curious to know what tool do you use for fundamental stock analysis? I particularly like the graphs used in some of your videos where you show PB ratio history and the various standard deviation?

Hi do you mind sharing how the collapse of SVB as well as CS would affect the banking industry here in SG? Is the impact high or low? I believe the drop in share prices of the local banks are related to these wider shock that are not covered in this video.

Curious. What brokerage do the three of you all use for investing in local stocks? Can't decide between cdp or custodian.... My heart pain to pay 25 fee haha

Good video, but it misses the point on the type of risk weighted assets all 3 banks are sitting on

How much mark to market losses are these 3 banks sitting on their corporate and government bond holdings?

Great Eastern has already been hit and in turn OCBC is exposed to such losses too

How do you think about maribank and gxs impact on dbs/ocbc/uob

OCBC is priced low for a reason. They are a laggard in terms of technology adoption and how they run their business. Dealing with OCBC feels like dealing with a dinosaur that is living in a modern world. They can still deliver decent returns based on their legacy but I'm not sure how they would be able to grow and survive all the modern disruptions.

If u long enough in market ocbc under value.were always under value.
Even ocbc and uob go up were never win dbs.

The prices of the 3 banks have move up & down quite a bit over the last few days. May I know, in your presentation, your valuation is done based on which day's price ?

Following the recent collapse of Silvergate, SVB and Signature Bank, the contagion effects have rippled globally. Do these Spore banks, notwithstanding that they are solvent, have sufficient liquidity to meet excessive withdrawals in the event of a bank run?

Banks are getting further punished in prices with the fall out this week with the 3 regional banks in US. Might have more coming in the ripple effects. More opportunies for our local banks?
