Bugs Ripple Water to Guitar Notes Being Played || ViralHog

This video was filmed at Cat Lake, British Columbia, Canada. XYSM, a DJ from Vancouver BC, and his friends were playing guitar on the dock until they realized that every time they played a loud note, hundreds of insects jumped up in the water.

Water striders use ripple frequency produced on the water surface to communicate. Males predominantly produce these ripples in the water. There are three main frequencies found in ripple communication: 25 Hz as a repel signal, 10 Hz as a threat signal, and 3 Hz as a courtship signal.
