Kunitsu-Gami Review - The Final Verdict

This game's action elements are good, though some stiff controls and interface issues hold it back from being truly great. Thankfully, the strategy elements exist to add variation and variety.

The levels and bosses are designed around both action and strategy styles simultaneously, making for some truly memorable and interesting designs.

You can command villagers to construct various buildings. This is a game whose whole is greater than its individual parts, and I can’t recommend it enough if you’re a fan of either action or strategy games.

Overall decent review, but I have a few corrections.

1. You can absolutely cancel attack animations. As long as its a normal, you can cancel it with block.
2. Soh's beginning move set is actually pretty extensive. From the start you have essentially 8 neutral sets of attacks and 8 dashing sets of attacks. Couple that with attack cancelling, and there are quite a few different combos you can come up with. Granted they are not super flashy for the most part, however the variety is there.

Attacks are certainly not stiff, if you can't aim them properly maybe you should review your skills. If anything combat is surprisingly fluid, much MUCH more than I anticipated from the videos I saw before trying the demo out for myself.

I’m confused at the part where you mention the late addition of a skill tree is balanced out by the “…length of the second half.” Are you basing the halves on number of villages or time?

After i really stretched my gaming spectrum to Persona 5 i have been buying and playing weird an off the path type games like this ever since. Lots of what ppl call them indies, or AA. I just have way more fun w them.

Not sure if it’s just the demo or the characters never ever speak. I hope they added occasional dialogs because the game feels mute and lacks character. Even boss dialogs would’ve been nice.

Essentially this is a basic tower defense game then? Of course these new age reviewers were aware of it (but never mentioned the fact? weird.). Nah, instead of being even aware what genre they were playing there had to be a SOULS-LIKE mention stuffed in. It is all souls-like or not souls-like here boys, all other genres begone. I'm sorry but this one read like a parody of game reviews to me. Thumbs up for the parody part.
