why do people feel they need to go over the top to prove their love ? My wedding cost me 1, 000 40 years ago and I waited 30 years for my diamond wedding band set. People are so fickle. I cooked and baked everything for my wedding also plus decorated the small hall with my friends; made all the table decorations plus my own bouquet. Didn't put anyone including us into debt including my parents.

It's the longevity of the marriage that really counts and not how expensive your wedding is. From the friends I know the more expensive their wedding the shorter their marriage tended to be. It's the marriage that counts and not the wedding.
