Solving two step equation with two terms in the numerator

👉 Learn how to solve two step rational linear equations. A linear equation is an equation whose highest exponent on its variable(s) is 1. A rational equation is an equation containing at least one fraction whose numerator and (or) denominator are polynomials.
To solve for a variable in a two step rational linear equation, we first multiply through by the denominator of the rational term to eliminate the fraction, then we isolate the variable by using inverse operations (addition or subtraction) to move like terms to different sides of the equality sign. After evaluating like terms we then also use inverse operations (multiplication or division) to remove any multiple (or fraction) to the variable.

Wouldn't answer be x = 45?  After multiplying both sides by 4, you came down and wrote "x + 4 = 48", but should have been x + 3 = 48...correct?  Anyway, greatly appreciate your videos, my son and I have used them many times to help with his homework.

In this video, in a couple of places, you’re saying one number and writing another. Thank you for the tutorial.

Hi! I like your teaching style and I will be looking at all your videos for more great tips and short cuts. However in this video, you made an error by writing a 4 instead of a 3 in your solution. Not a biggy but I thought you should know. Have you thought of doing any trig?

I got x=45??
I’ve been watching your videos because I need to learn this problems and it’s been very helpful I’m trying to join the Army but The ASVAB is holding me back so hopefully by watching more or your videos I can learn and pass the test 😭

Can someone help me? How do you solve this problem but let’s say there are parentheses around the “x + 3”. How do you solve it with parentheses

How would you do it if your equation looked like this: 3+x/4=12?

hi sir I was just taking a look at your other videos. You had explained this type equation in another video and you did it like this. x+3/4 = 12 you multiplied the sides by 4 [this video you said divide them not multiply I think that's what the muck up was] which then 4 cancels out and your left with x + 3 = 48 [which is 12 x 4] then you did the subtracting so, 48 - 3 and that gives x=45. also I don't mean to sound rude or try to sound like I'm trying to disrespect your knowledge and teaching as I am a student and trying to learn the best I can from your videos.

Yeah, you made a mistake. The answer should have been x=45.

x=45 not 44 all you do is 12x4= 48 and then you do the opposite of addition which is subtraction you do 48-3=45 and that is the awnser

1:59 I was kind of confused on that part until I noticed that he made a mistake. Instead of 3 he had put down a 4
