Fuel primer pump housing removal & replacement 2004 Duramax 6.6 (DIY) (#94)

Today we replace the complete fuel primer pump housing and fuel filter. I know real exciting right?🤣 I’m sure some of you have had this same issue of the pump loosing it’s prime. I always try to rebuild my original parts if I can but couldn’t find an available o-ring kit of quality online and the dealership only had the complete unit with the filter separately sold. So I kept researching and found ac-Delco OEM complete fuel primer pump assembly with filter for $120 on E-Bay. Great video....but you all can save some headaches by not backing bleeder screw all the way out, it will bleed partially backed off.

How did I miss this one?? Great video and how to change the fuel primer assembly. I have a VW 1.6 Turbo Diesel in my Samurai and last Friday it stalled on the freeway while going to work. Luckily AAA was kind enough to tow it back to the DIY Willy shop for me. I also changed the fuel filter and oil while I was there. The engine started and I took it for a drive. It seemed to be ok but I'll let it take a break for a bit. Its getting old. Thanks for sharing!!

If you get the fuel filter, housing O-ring kit that replaces all the O-rings in it from a reputable shop, like ZZDiesel, rip diesel, pure diesel power, any of these well-known shops, the O-rings will fit.
