When you get to the 5 missing people in the team the scanner shows how the crystals are made.
1: The seed is planted
2: The seed begins to sprout
the 3rd one is unclear but i do think it is "there are no bodies left only crystals" or he missed the 3rd one and that is the 4th one.

Just played this today and wanted to add they just updated it tonight. There is an additional file that lists coordinates for 3 different sites, one in Alaska, one in Florida and one in the middle of the Atlantic with mentions of continuing research at the sites. I have no idea if they'll keep updating the game but I've heard this is a prequel so it'll pay to keep an eye on it.

Edited to add: I also realized a few more things after watching this again. When you get to the last part the objective displayed by the drone is in hexidecimal as is the number and letter string underneath it. The objective says: FIND THE CORE 0/1. Now what's really interesting is the numbers underneath. You get one of these each time a ghost "jumpscares" you (for lack of a better word). If you get all of them the code translates to: OCEAN. Now it becomes really apparent that the coordinates for the Atlantic site are really important.
