It's always fun when I'm out in the oil field and I see guys with your Loop Simulator / IP Explorer. Haven't met a person yet that doesn't love their TW tools!

The discussion on the two drivers @4:30 is a great note! Saved me today on an issue.

My 2 cents, for the people that do not have an IP explorer you can set you ethernet device on your pc to obtain an IP automatically, minute 3:06 on video, then from the command prompt "cmd " you can type " ipconfig " and press the enter key on keyboard. The ip of the device, in this case the PLC will be listed along with its subnet mask, you can then do a ping from the same screen and confirm that you do have communication with the plc as in minute 8:20 of the video.

Hello Tim, thanks for all the videos. First time playing with PLC. No training. And I have a custom setup running at my dads work off at micro 820. I have a issue with the workbench not finding my hmi screen anymore. And I’m trying to download a new screen. I am able to ping the screen. But When I configure the drivers. I am not able to see it anymore. Can I also use the Ethernet option where you type the IP address in to make it look for it in workbench like you did for the PLC? I feel like did something and it blocking it self now!

Hi Tim,
Is there a way for a client to use internal registers assigned by a program which is password protected and (connected to a micro850 via etherenet) to be able to toggle these as a way of another method of control without visually being in the program?

Good day Tim

I have configured my drivers as an Ethernet Device, I have set my connection path to the correct Simulator IP after turning on the Micro800 Simulator. But then nothing happens the PC froze each time.

What could the fault be?

Is there a way to use wireshark or another tool to get the PLC's IP address if I know its MAC address without having use the IP explorer as I don't have one.
