Three children rescued as blast demolishes home

Three children have been rescued from a house in south London after a huge blast ripped through the property.

There are fears another child may be trapped in the rubble.

Neighbours said they could smell gas shortly before the explosion in Thornton Heath.

im in a council property and in 2020 had a gas safety inspection and everything was signed off as good but he never checked the gas meter, two weeks later the roofers came to replace the roof and turned the gas off and came to me and said the pipes were black meaning it was leaking. Npower came out to investigate and said it had been leaking for fair few months given how black the pipes were yet the councils gas contractors had signed it off as all well 2 weeks prior lol

I use to hang around in them area back in the days government need to stop gas in homes shut them off I been saying this for years now it’s dangerous having them

if this was in america like the one seen recently it would of ended an entire neighborhood, keep building house nice and sturdy! it saves lives not like the american doll houses!

I hope they get well soon.
Alot of lessons from this should be learnt for British Home builders and government. Also never construct homes close to each other, it makes no sense to me why British homes are so closely linked to each other. Because if a fire starts it puts the other homes at risk.

Either a faulty gas pipe, or one of the new arrivals not understanding how to turn on a gas cooker without blowing up the house, but definitely something to do with gas. Or maybe not.
