I had one in this week with over 350k on the clock for cambelt and it's never had any issues but it's been serviced properly which is key

Ford recommends replacing the wet belt at 50k to 140 k miles

I have a vivaro and never had problems other than breaks and a service once a year. 200k on the clock. It’s been used daily since new and never let me down.

Thing is its also the most popular van in the UK. Ive had 3 of them no issues bar a battery replacement on one as the stop/start is a battery killer after a few years. Theres a lot more of them knocking about, bound to be more horror storys. Disclaimer: this is not a endorsement of ford quality 😂

I had the wet belt on this engine snap on me at 86, 000 miles. He probably doesn’t even know it has a wet belt. It’s absolutely essential to clear all of the deteriorated belt particles out of the oil pick up very common that they block up. When this happens knocks out the big hand and main bearings.

100% gen 2 vivaro were terrible. 16 plate I had, recall after 2 months for incorrectly fitted sump, had 3 clutch master cylinders in a year, 2 coolant return hoses that rub against intercooler and split, 2 EGR valves, turbo bypass flap that snapped off and got stuck just before being sucked into actual turbo, then after 172k miles the timing chain snapped.

Excellent vans...

I have a 12 plate vivaro, been a great van for me personally. 125k
Had a few top mounts and a starter.
Been all over the country in it, would prefer this all day long to a eco boom! And those wet belts are made of cheese.
Had a friend who had a 19 plate crew custom. Belt snapped at 110K. Have to have a new engine! I just think it’s shocking! That’s not even high miles!
I do always say with regular services and easy driving will go on for ages!!

Thanks for the video! I’m always confused when people say they’re unreliable… my friend over the road has had one for years and doesn’t seem to have any issues with his 🤷🏼‍♂️

I have a beautiful Ford Transit Custom Camper 2018/19 and its fantastic, so long as you're not a cheap fk and service and maintain it.

I have a 14 reg 2.2 custom 67k miles on the clock one previous owner service history. I have had it for 2 months broken down twice now. Rough on cold starts revs to about 2k and drops back to 1k on its own does this couple times. Since i have had it its had glow plugs, fuel filter, crankshaft sensor, dpf clean, hasn't died for about 150miles now but im sure it will cut out again i think i have bought a lemon.

It's all down to Servicing on Time, Look after the Van and it will look after you, The main problem with any van is people do not spend a Penny on servicing unless it goes wrong, then they wonder why!

Our transit custom has been trouble free from new exception of injectors. One day wouldn't rev above 1.6k RPM firing on 3 cyls. Turns out Ford admitted a faulty batch of injectors for the 2.0D ecoblue and will replace under recall via the AA BUT.. it doesnt appear on the DVSA safety recalls list because it's not seatbelt or airbag related etc.

Wet belts are a problem. Most specialists will recommend changing at 50-60k. Oh and if you don't use genuine Ford oil, a snapped belt won't be covered under warranty, as Ford claim their oil has an additive.

What about the wet belt? As a taxi driver I know a few of the lads who have the ecoblue engines and the wet belt is a nightmare apparently?

Is that the wet belt engine, are they a problem?

First to have a 5star accident rating although they did have a poor tune on early models
