There’s an exhibit on Mass Timber construction in the Chicago Architectural Center. It’s quite the promising material!

To all those questioning longevity, fire safety, etc: watch the full video and/or do your research. These are not slap-dash disposable wooden structures. They've been built to last and to be safe.

Not people in the comments thinking that nobody thought of the fire hazard and that the timber isn't treated to prevent it...

Sara kulturhus. Not relly an art center. Top floor is a resturant. Then a hotel. Moving down you got the music halls and ground floors are more resturants and library

Fires happen I'd like to know what material the wood has been integrated with to prevent an accidental or intentional fire...?

Why? The lifetime of material is so much less than steel or concrete

Ask the japanese about the dangers of that. They learned about it in ww2.

Did we really not learn why building wood houses is bad? Look at the United States! Houses are paper thin!

Why is this such a big deal? This is the norm in Canada and the us.
