In this short video I'll be showing how I breakdown skulls and bones into smaller and easier to paint parts, then painting them freehand onto a space marine pauldron.

It's the same technique I used on the Legion of the Damned Intercessor shown in the how to video from last Wednesday.

I would have NEVER tried freehanding until I watched this. And to think I was this close to buying some printed skull pauldrons for fhe Mortifactors army I'm making and now after watching this I have the confidence to take the matter into my own hands. This is just too beautiful for words :-D Rob, you are a :-D I hated trying to paint freehand designs until you started showing how to do them, and this tutorial is just exactly what I needed today :-) I've taken the plunge and started painting Space Marines again, and since you inspired me to do them as the Brotherhood of the Damned, I am almost dancing with joy at seeing how you teach people like me to paint not only flames, but now skulls :-D :-D I salute you, my good man and inspiring artist combined :-D Keep these videos coming, and I'll keep watching and evolving my aged painting skills :-)

I just started painting a classic Metal marine with the exact thought in mind of having a skull on the shoulder pad.
