The cleverness is in the desingers choice of order. Yes, dominion could replicate this....if the designers gave you the order...and if they players could warp that order with their actions in is enough different to me.

I thought I would wait till the end jumping the gun and before commenting but your comparison to dominion was something I was thinking the whole way through, the fable system seems like a new take on many aspects from deck building games rather than something new and revolutionary

looks like a great gateway game. Fable system is a cool idea, yea not a ground breaking one but a great way to market other games that may use the same system. Yea if stronghold can use this as a platform to make tons of games that may interlock or just use the same rules its still clever.
I will definitely purchase this.

My issue with this is its a 20 minute card game that costs £45, that's hardly value for money.

...The Fable system just sounds like "It's a campaign game, " to me... (albeit an entirely mechanical campaign, and kind of done in a cool way with the mechanics unfolding during the game itself rather than just between games, looking at this...)

Interesting idea, but feels for like a gimmick. I would just play with random stacks and add random stack when one runs out. Most probably i won't be able to play 15 consecutive games (not in one game night) with my gaming group or the time gaps between plays would be too big to care about the fable system.

Doesn't the Harry Potter deck builder that just came out basically use a "fable" system?

Yeah, "Legacy without destroying components", right. Had a look at it in Essen and I might have tried it, but after I learned what this revolutionary "Fable system" was the false advertisement drove me away from the game entirely.
